Joe Jackson Detroit Concert reviews
A little short, but enjoyable
This was my first time seeing Joe Jackson live, and I'm kinda bummed that I didn't get to see a "real" Joe Jackson concert. A fan who enjoys most of his songs across all albums should really appreciate this show. Neil Giraldo can certainly play guitar and Joe Jackson still has a good set of pipes! They sounded very good, with his voice coming out clear and strong the vast majority of the time. I thought the background on some of the songs was interesting, and appreciated the peak behind the scenes. They did some deep cuts that a big fan would probably appreciate. Given that there was dialog between each and every song, there was limited room for the songs themselves. It was a little VH1 Storytellers type show without the crowd asking questions. I also would have appreciated a few more better known songs. A more casual fan, such as myself, looking to hear all the hits might not find the show quite so enjoyable. This was an acoustic show, relaxed, with just the two of them on stage and Joe Jackson sitting on a stool. Overall, he sounds very good, but the show wasn't quite 90 minutes. I would still love to see a "regular" Joe Jackson concert.
